Pie Meeting Saturday 3rd June 2017

World Events

Labour within 4 points of Conservatives.

Trump takes the USA out of the Paris Climate Change agreement.

80 died in Kabul and hundreds injured.

Affray in Halifax and someone stabbed.

Sport

Huddersfield Town wins Championship playoffs and are now in the Premiership.

Britain and Ireland grind out a win in the opening game against  Provincial Barbarians of New Zealand. A warm-up game before the internationals.

Derby won by On Eagles Wings.

Mark   Dry, shortcrust pastry, no jelly at all. Very bland meat.

Sport 

England and Scotland draw 2-2 in World Cup qualifiers

British and Irish Lions win the third game against Canterbury Crusaders from New Zealand.

Single-handed transatlantic race 60 knot winds have 4 boats damaged and one yachtsman rescued. 

Pies  

Peter   Big pie with crispy fresh pastry.  Well packed with tasty peppery meat. Just enough jelly.Really enjoyed it. I should have been more hungry it was so big.

Tim   Big pie full of meat. Too densely packed with meat and a bit on the dry side. Still taste the lard in the pastry.

Score   7.0/10

Howard  Grand pie of epic proportions  Crisp crunchy pastry. A little bit lardy. Well packed with meat. Plenty of taste and spice. bit salty. Moist meat quite a bit of jelly. Good pie.

Score   8.0/10

Mark   Big hefty pie packed with meat that was flavoursome. Spicy and peppery lots of afterburn. Gaps of tasty jelly.

England under 20s football team wins the World Cup.

Rugby British and Irish Lions beat Maori all Blacks.

Mark   Thin crispy pastry. Fresh. Sausage meat filling.

Tim    Nicely presented fresh crisp pastry. More spice needed.

Richard   Tim was spot on with his summary. Very fresh, crispy pastry. More jelly and coarser meat would have been better.

Kevin   Looked good. Very fresh, did need more spice. Cracking pie. Kevin does not know which pie has 3 pricks in the top like this one!

Peter   Fresh, crispy pastry. Meat was tasty enough.

Howard   Golden brown pastry, Well filled with flavoursome meat. Needed more seasoning. Nice amount of jelly. Overall good pie.

Glastonbury festival started today and no rain!

Brexit talks start with Teresa offering Europeans residency of 5 years and Europe is not impressed.

Brussels terrorist attacker blew himself up and no one else and in London a Welshman ran into worshippers on their way to the Mosque and killed one and injured 10.

Sport

Renaldo may come back to Manchester because he is questioned over his tax.

Andy Murray out of Queens tournament.

First test match in Rugby and British and Irish Lions v Old Blacks and we lost 30 - 15.

Pies

Kevin Booth from Australia (our Kevin’s Cousin) Lovely pie but then they have crap pies their.

Howard   Cold soggy pastry.  Domed roof and nothing inside. Grisly meat not much flavour.

Tim   Crispy pastry but cold.Good meat and pastry.

Peter   Large good looking pie. Surprisingly cold pie for such a warm day. Soft pastry. Meat did not have a lot of taste. Finely ground meat.

Tony   Cold and uninspiring.

Score   6.0/10

Kevin   Big and rustic looking. Looked promising but ended up disappointing. Cold, nice amount of jelly. It was allright. 7. Kevin says his grandson put the pies in the fridge!
